The food was great, service was exceptional we never seemed to wait for anything...I would recommend this place to eat....

After touring the Matthiessen state park area I found this spot when I was looking for restaurants on google. So, I decided to try it out. Coming from Chicago I wasn’t expecting much in this small town but the tampiquena dinner I had did not disappoint. Good thick piece of steak well seasoned, beans were good and rice was decent. My daughter had the chilaquiles and it was mixed with egg and chorizo. Different but good! Chips and salsa was great! Will visit again if I’m in the area again!

This place is amazing. We are traveling from Wisconsin back to Tennessee. We just so happen to stop in here. Food was terrific. Service was Fanstantic.

Great seafood taco salad! I know some of the family that own this establishment & just to counter one of the bad reviews everything here is homemade. Including the salsa!

I had chips with salsa with a queso dip. I also had 2 carnitas Mexican style. Everything was absolutely delicious!!!

Drinks and salsa was good and the service

First time here, came out this way to visit starve rock and wanted a taste of home. Service was amazing and fast for a weekend night. The food was authentic rice was fresh and beans we good. And the portion sizes were shareable. Would definitely come again when we are on the area.

Food was good but the queso didnt have much of a taste to it. The biggest complaint is that it took awhile for us to get our food at lunch time even though there weren't many people there.

The food was good. The service was delicious. Awkward to get in, had to walk around the bar and go in through the back of the bar even though there was a direct way in the front of the bar. Remember, the food was delicious. Had the feel of a small family owned place. I would go again.

Salsas is easily the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Oglesby exit off 39, on the way to Starved Rock and they cater to all guests who including tourists and travelers, as if they lived here.

I picked up food here and it was ready when they quoted it would be finished. Portions are large. Ordered Arroz con Pollo it was very tasty. My wife ordered Chimichanga, and thankfully we ordered a side of queso cheese because this was not covered in cheese as we have been accustomed to in other restaurants. Regardless she really enjoyed her food. It was my first time ordering from Mr. Salsa's so next time we may share an entree.

Always wait to long for drinks and refills on them. Owners will walk past you and not fill your water glass. If you order something different then printed on menu like no beans you should not be upset if still has beans. The steak in barrito tasted weird like canned meat something. I would.have hard time believing that was steak meat. So service was slow nd food was less that acceptable. Paid 30 dollars for 2 meals and a soda . Wasnt what I ordered. How I ordered it..

Love this restaurant! Very simple Mexican atmosphere. Amazing food and service. Love the huge burritos they are amazing. And so big I always end up taking enough home for lunch the next day. And the have a small but really good buffet. Good prices. Friendly people

It's not the best I ever had but it also wasn't bad service was grate the booths are fat people friendly and wait time was fastfood was hott I got a fajita casadia chicken I dont like dark meat and they used dark just not my forte but their beans a homemade and yummy fer sure all in all good experience just some odd things I didnt like

Cannot comment on their food since didn't get to eat. Left after 15 mins of waiting and being ignored. I patiently waited for the host to finish ringing out a customer. Once finished, he just walked away, went behind the bar talking to customers. Busboy and waitress kept on walking back and forth. Tried asking the busboy for a table and he pretended he didn't hear me. By far the worst treatment I've ever received.

If you go plan on spending all night there. The food was good but couldn't find waitress to pay. Fill up on chips food takes forever to come out.

Great food, large portions, good drinks. Clean and open seating. Quaint.
